Bulk Billing in Lismore, NSW

At Lismore Doctors, we believe cost should never be a barrier to getting the care you need. We bulk bill all patients with a valid Medicare card for eligible consultations, meaning most visits come at no out-of-pocket cost to you.

What Is Bulk Billing?

Bulk billing is a payment option under Medicare where your doctor bills Medicare directly for the cost of your consultation. When you are bulk billed, you pay nothing out of pocket. Medicare covers the consultation fee entirely.

To be bulk billed, you simply need to present a valid Medicare card at each visit. Our reception team will confirm your eligibility at the time of booking or on arrival.

Who Is Eligible for Bulk Billing?

All patients with a valid Medicare card are bulk billed for eligible consultations at Lismore Doctors. Please make sure you bring your current Medicare card to every appointment.

Services Not Covered by Bulk Billing

While the vast majority of consultations are fully bulk billed, some services fall outside Medicare’s bulk billing guidelines and will incur a private fee. These may include:

  • Procedures and minor surgeries
  • Skin treatments
  • Medical and other reports
  • Pre-employment medical assessments
  • Driver medical assessments
  • Travel medicine
  • Immunisations and vaccines

Our reception team will always advise you of any applicable fees before your appointment so you know exactly what to expect.

WorkCover

If you are attending an appointment for a WorkCover related matter, please note:

  • Upfront payment is required on the day of your appointment
  • You will receive a tax invoice and receipt for your records
  • The clinic does not bill WorkCover directly
  • WorkCover patients must notify their employer and bring their employer’s contact details to the appointment

If you have any questions before your appointment, our reception team is happy to help.

What If I Don't Have a Medicare Card?

If you do not hold a valid Medicare card, your consultation will be privately billed and payment will be required on the day. Depending on your private health insurance, you may be able to claim a partial rebate through your insurer.

MyMedicare, Strengthening Your Care

We invite all patients who consider Lismore Doctors their regular GP clinic to register for MyMedicare. MyMedicare is a voluntary Australian Government patient registration model that strengthens the relationship between you, your GP, and our practice team, giving you better access, better continuity of care, and better health planning.

Registering does not affect your existing Medicare rights or benefits, and you can leave the program at any time.
