Assessment and Management

Depending on your presentation, your GP may:
- Provide treatment and management advice
- Arrange relevant investigations or tests
- Prescribe medication where clinically appropriate
- Monitor your condition over time
- Refer you to an ENT specialist for further assessment and care
When to See a GP for an ENT Concern
Some ENT symptoms are worth addressing sooner rather than later. Consider booking an appointment with your GP if you are experiencing:
- Ear pain or discharge that is not improving
- Sudden or gradual hearing loss
- Persistent sinus pain or pressure
- A sore throat lasting more than a few days
- Difficulty breathing through your nose
- Recurring throat or ear infections
- Any symptom that is concerning or not resolving
If you are unsure about your symptoms, speaking with a GP is a good starting point.
Referrals to ENT Specialists
When a condition requires specialist assessment or intervention beyond the scope of general practice, our GPs can provide referrals to ENT specialists. We will ensure you have the right documentation and information to access specialist care in a timely way.

Lismore Doctors bulk bills all patients with a valid Medicare card for eligible consultations, meaning most standard GP visits come at no out-of-pocket cost.
