Skin Checks in Lismore, NSW

We live in one of the most beautiful parts of Australia, and we spend a lot of time in the sun to prove it. But with that comes responsibility. Australia has one of the highest rates of skin cancer in the world, and regular skin checks are one of the simplest things you can do to stay on top of your health.

At Lismore Doctors, our GPs can assess your skin, identify areas of concern, and make sure you’re getting the right care, because catching something early always beats waiting.

Our GPs provide:

  • Skin cancer screening including early melanoma detection
  • Minor skin procedures and treatments
  • Referrals to dermatologists and specialists where clinically appropriate

Why Skin Checks Matter

Skin cancer is one of the most common cancers in Australia. When identified early, many skin conditions can be assessed and managed more effectively. Regular skin checks allow your GP to monitor any changes over time and act promptly when needed.

If you have noticed a new or changing mole, lesion, or area of skin that concerns you, we encourage you to book an appointment with your GP rather than waiting.

What to Expect at a Skin Check

During a skin check your GP will examine your skin and assess any areas of concern. Depending on what is found, your GP may:

  • Monitor an area and recommend a follow-up review
  • Arrange further investigation such as a biopsy
  • Perform a minor procedure to remove or treat a lesion
  • Refer you to a dermatologist or specialist for further assessment

Your GP will always discuss their findings with you and explain any recommended next steps clearly.

Minor Skin Procedures

Our clinic is equipped to perform a range of minor, non-surgical skin procedures. These may include the removal or treatment of certain skin lesions where clinically appropriate. Your GP will discuss whether a procedure is suitable for your situation and advise on what to expect.

Who Should Have a Skin Check?

A skin check may be worth discussing with your GP if you:

  • Spend a lot of time outdoors or have had significant sun exposure
  • Have a personal or family history of skin cancer
  • Have noticed a new, changing, or unusual mole or lesion
  • Have not had a skin check in some time

A skin check is suitable for patients of all ages. If you have any concerns about your skin, speaking with your GP is the right first step.
